Clarendon Elementary School 'Volunteer Choir Department'
Recording 'Live' - 'Box of Kisses'
The Box Of Kisses Project
Here's a little back-story on our “Box Of Kisses” project.
In the small farming town of Clarendon Vermont an interesting event has come about.
A number of The Clarendon Elementary School students and community have family and family-friends stationed overseas in the armed services.
As a result of this situation Mrs. Neva Pratico 2nd grade teacher, and, Mrs Bonnie Pritchard special educator, thought it would be a wonderful gesture to send the service men and women a present from the school thanking them for their sacrifice.
Mrs. Pratcio got to talking, as she is known to do, and explained the situation to professional songwriter and Vermonter James Mee.
James Mee approached his old pal, record producer and song-writing partner Michael Mugrage about using a song they’d written called “Box of Kisses” as part of the tribute project.
Michael got on board and the Box Of Kisses project was under way.
Michael approached gifted singer Christina Skleros with the idea.
Christina is most remebered for her rendition of the National Anthem at Game 6 of the 1996 World Series in Yankee Stadium as an 8 year old.
Christina Skleros sang the lead vocal and gave generously of her time and talent. Her efforts really give the song an undeniable sentiment and quality.
The students at Clarendon Elementary school, now being called
the “Clarendon Volunteer Choir Department” put in a lot of hard work, gave up recesses, and cut lunches in order to learn this song. A number of the kids in the choir have family and friends stationed overseas.
Mrs. Pritchard taught them the song and how to sing it, 'cause she’s nice. Mrs. Pratico organized everything, got everyone involved, kept us all in line and ... yup, kept right on talking too. She’s a wonderful soul.
No one in town can believe how good the song sounds.
Listen to it. You won’t believe it either. And that’s because it is genuine and sincere.
The recording will be sent overseas to our troops serving there
with help from The Vermont Country Store.
And the recording will be accompanied by boxes hand-colored and folded by the students. Filled with red, white and blue candy donated by The Vermont Country store. Accompanied by a miniature American flag, stick-on hearts and a note from each
student thanking the soldiers for their sacrifice.
We are having a big party July 31 to celebrate. Christina Skleros will come to Clarendon and perform with the choir.
It will be blast...............
